He was a firefighter with the New Canaan Fire Department for 34 years and was ranked as a Captain of the department. During his retirement, Gesualdi loved to start his mornings with his firehouse family and greeting each day “uptown,” seeing friends and keeping up with the community.

Gesualdi was also known for his apple pies and his love of making them for friends and family to order – tart, sweet or somewhere in between.

"He will be sorely missed for the way he could light up a room, for his infinite stories of his early years, a sense of humor that kept everyone on their toes, and the deep love that he had for life and his family," his obituary said.
